Virus
1/100 in size of a bacteria and are considered nonliving as they do not use any nutrients or waste.
A host cell
A virus tricks a cell into letting it in, when inside a host cell then it hijacks it to produce new viruses.
Colds
Most common colds are from rhinoviruses, a single droplet from a sneeze contains 1000s of viral particles.
The Flu
Caused by influenza, spread the same way as a cold. Can be fatal for those who are immunosuppressed (elderly/infants)
Measles
Contagious, symptoms are a red rash, brain and hearing damage, immunosuppressed are at risk.
Chicken pox
Starts with runny nose and fever. Can remain inactive for 20-30 years and resurfaces as shingles.
Antiviral drugs
Can help stop a virus in a host cell from reproducing.
