7.2 mitosis Flashcards
how is DNA stored in the nucleus the majority of the time?
Chromatin
What is the difference between homologous chromosomes and sister chromatides?
sister chromatides are separated and they are called homologous when they are joined.
What happens during prophase?
Chromosomes form
What happens during Metaphase?
The chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, spindle fibers form.
What happens during Anaphase?
The Chromosomes split into sister chromatides and get pulled to the axis of the cell by the spindle fibers.
What happens during Telophase?
The cell splits into two sister cells.
What are the results of mitosis?
Mitosis results in two identical cells.
What is mitosis used for?
Mitosis is used for cell replication.
What are the mitosis phases in order?
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Where are the sister chromatids connected at?
The Centromere
