6.1 cell structure Flashcards
Prokaryote vs Eukaryote
Prokaryotes are bacterial cells and they don’t have a nucleus. Eukaryotes are plant and animal cells that do have a nucleus.
Bacterial cells
Have free floating DNA without a nucleus.
Plant and animal cells
Have a nucleus and plants have chloroplasts.
What are the benefits of the Prokaryotic cell plan?
They have less to replicate so they reproduce faster and more efficiently.
What are the benefits of an Eukaryotic cell plan?
They can do more jobs and are part of a more complex structure.
What kind of cell junction is an exchange between two cells?
Plasmodesmata and Gap
What kind of cell junction makes water tight seals?
Tight Junctions
What kind of cell junction keep cells together?
Desmosomes
What kind of endoplasmic Reticulum has Ribosomes and where would they mostly be?
The Rough ER. Mostly in the muscle cells
