7.1 cell cycle Flashcards
What are the cell cycle phases in order?
G1
S
G2
M
What happens during G1 phase?
The cell increases in size and prepares to replicate.
What happens during S phase?
The cell replicates it’s DNA. Two sets of chromosomes.
What happens during G2 phase?
Continued growth and preparation for division.
What happens during M phase?
The cell divides into two daughter cells.
what is a checkpoint in the cell cycle?
A checkpoint checks for damage and sees if the cell is ready for the next phase.
What is the G0 phase?
If the cell is damaged or has insufficient resources it goes into a resting phase.
What are Inhibitory Proteins?
Turns enzymes off
What are stimulating proteins?
Starts enzymes
What is an example of a tumor suppressor gene?
