2.4 intermolecular forces Flashcards
What is London dispersion forces?
The weakest form of attraction. Can be between any atom and molecule.
What is dipole dipole interaction?
Permanent partial charges.
What are hydrogen bonds?
An extra strong form of dipole dipole interaction. Must contain O-H, N-H, or F-H.
Rank the attractions from strongest to weakest.

What makes a molecule polar?
Must be asymmetrical
What makes a molecule non-polar?
Must be symmetrical.
