65D Flashcards
Ex quibus servis qui animo fideli in dominum et praesenti fuerunt
Of those slaves who were of a loyal and conciencious mindset towards their master,
partim occisi sunt, partim, cum ad raedam pugnari viderent,
some were killed, others, since they saw that it was being fought near the carriage,
domino sucurrere prohiberentur,
they were being prevented from running to help their master
Milonem occisum et ex ipso Clodio audirent et re vera putarent
and when they both heard from Clodius himself that Milo had been killed and when they thought that it was true,
fecerunt id servi Milonis
Milo’s slaves did that thing
dicam enim aperte non derivandi criminis causa
indeed let me say openly not for the sake of shifting the accusation
sed ut factum est
but as it happened
nec imperante nec sciente nec praesente domino
without their master neither ordering it nor knowing nor being present
quod suos quisque servos in tali re facere voluisset
what everyone person would have wanted their own slaves to do in such a situation
