- Provides learners with knowledge and skills needed for their present job
- Support that an organization provides employee professional growth, such as movement to projects or positions within an organization
Talent Management
Recruitment, Hiring, Development, and Retention of Employees
Performance Appraisal
Evaluating an employee’s current or/and past performance relative to performance standards
Engagement vs Empowerment
- Emotional and cognitive motivation toward work-related goals
- Psychological experience represented by four dimensions:
- self-determination
- meaning
- competence
-impact of individual’s role in the organization
HRM vs HRD
HRM focuses on employee management and the present needs of an organization. HRD refers to the growth of an employee in various dimensions that could include ones that are outside the job (Future focused).
Overlap: Appraisal and Training
HRD vs ORG DEV
HRD focuses on employees only. Organizational focuses on the entire organization and improvement via behavioral science and technology
HRD vs Training
Similar to HRM, training focuses on developing KSA’s important for a specific job. HRD focuses on multiple dimensions of a person that can transverse outside the job.
