M : F = 2 : 1 in over 75’s
type of inheritance pattern?
autosomal dominant
what % cases is sporadic?
30% cases
relationship with race?
almost exclusively white race
what pneumonic can be used to remember the associations of dupuytrens?
HATED - HIV, alcohol, tobacco, epilepsy, diabetes
5 functional problems?
no pain, loss of finger extension, hand in pocket, gripping things, washing face
non-operative treatment?
observe, radiotherapy
4 operative treatments?
partial fasciectomy, dermo-fasciectomy, percutaneous needle fasciotomy, amputation
most common operative treatment?
partial fascietomy
1 adv and 1 disadv to dermo-fascietomy?
adv - reduced recurrence rates,
disadv - intensive physio needed
1 adv and 1 disadv to percutaneous needle fascietomy?
quick and no wounds, risk of nerve injury
