3.8 Projectile Motion Flashcards
1
Q
what is a projectile?
A
has motion in both vertical and horizontal planes
* initial non- zero horizontal velocity
* only accelerated in the vertical plane
drag is ignored in both planes
1
Q
what is the motion of vertical and horizontal projectiles
A
- both completley independant
- only time is the same for both
2
Q
how do you calculate the vertical plane motion?
A
suvat equations as only gravity acts to accelerate
3
Q
how do you calculate horizontal plane motion?
A
speed = distance / time
4
Q
What happens to the motion at the maximum height?
A
Vertical velocity =0
Horizontal velocity = constant throughout
So at maximum height the velocity will be minimum at only the horizontal component
