3.1.2.3.4.5 Basics Flashcards
What is speed and distance?
- Speed is the magnitude of the velocity vector.
- Distance is the magnitude of displacement vector
How do you calculate average speed ?
for average velocity would be ∆displacement
How do you calculate instantaneous speed?
Gradient of the tangent at a point on a speed time graph
for velocity would be a displacement (s) time graph
What is displacement?
The shortest distance between two points
What is velocity ?
Rate of change of displacement
what is acceleration?
the rate of chnage of velocity
chnage in speed or direction
what is the difference between uniform and non uniform acceleration?
- uniform: speed changes at a constant rate while travelling in a straight line (suvat)
- non- uniform: direction chnages or speed changes at a varying rate
non uniform can only be calculated using tangnet of velocity time graph
a ball is thrown into the air and falling back down
* draw a displacement time graph
* draw a distance time graph for the ball
What are the 5 SUVAT equations?
what is a mnemoic for remebering the 7 SI base units?
- Meter (length)
- Kilogram (mass)
- Second (time)
- Ampere (current)
- Mol (amount)
- Kelvin (temperature)
- Candela (luminosity)
my kite soars amongst my kite competition
what do the prefixes peta (P), tera (T) , giga(G) pico (p)and femto (f) mean?
- P (passionate) - Peta (10^15)
- T (Tigers) - Tera (10^12)
- G (Growl) - Giga (10^9)
- p (pretty) - Pico (10^-12)
- f (Fiercely) - Femto (10^-15)
passionate tigers growl pretty fiercley
what are the general scalar vector rules with units?
anything multipled/ divided with a vector quantity becomes vector
