- Why do we need to use interdental cleaning method, instead of standard toothbrushes?
Standard brushes cannot easily access interdental surface. Higher chance of plaque remaining there – 30% of plaque remains in the interdental surfaces.

Loop method
- Curve the floss around each tooth into a U-shape, and gently slide it under the gum line. Move the floss firmly up and down several times to scrape off the plaque

If the patient has health periodontium, they can use brushes width 0.6mm – 1.1mm
Patients with periodontitis - 1.3mm – 2.5 mm diameter
How to instruct and motivate the patients?
- We show the correct technique on the model
- The patient shows it on the model
- The patient shows it in his/her mouth with his/her own toothbrush/interdental brushes and if it’s needed we correct it.
- FMPS monitoring in every session (should be < 20%)
- Plaque staining
