Dementia
The loss of intellectual function such as thinking, remembering, and reasoning, of sufficient severity to interfere with a person’s daily functioning
Alzheimer’s disease
A progressive, and terrible condition that destroys brain cells, gradually causing lots of intellectual abilities such as memory and extreme changes in personality and behavior
Neuron
A unique type of cell found in the brain and body that is specialized to process and transmit information
Neurotransmitter
A chemical substance such as acetylcholine or dopamine that transmits nerve impulses across a synapse
Parkinson’s disease
A progressive disorder of the nervous system marked by muscle tremors, muscle rigidity, decreased mobility, stooped posture, slowed voluntary movements, and a mask-like facial expression
