Why is atrial repolarization not illustrated on an ECG?
• The QRS complex masks it.
The amount of blood ejected by a ventricle during a single beat is called the
stroke volume.
Fibrous capsule
Lymph node is enclosed by fibrous capsule
trabeculae
divide the lymph node into compartments.
reticular fibers
support the cellular components.
cortex
outer region of the lymph node
germinal
centers
Masses of cells
medullary cords
Cells are arranged
lymphoid nodules,
also known as Peyer’s Patches.
The lymphoid nodule is a compact mass of lymphoid cells that appears as a large collection of purple circles.
Neutrophils
This cell is a granulocyte with a nucleus that typically has between 3 – 5 lobes
Eosinophils
This cell is also granulocyte, look for a nucleus that is typically bilobed and a
distinctive pink cytoplasm
Basophils
The third granulocyte, this cell will appear dark purple and their bilobed nucleus
may be difficult to see due to the dark staining granules
Lymphocytes
This cell is an agranulocyte and typically has a spherical nucleus. They will be
just slightly larger than the erythrocytes
Monocytes
This cell is also an agranulocyte, it will be a very large cell, larger that the
erythrocytes and other leukocytes. It typically has a C-shaped nucleus
Artery
Blood vessel that transports blood away from the heart
Vein
Blood vessel that transports blood from a capillary network
Hematocrit is
Percentage of total blood volume comprised of packaged erythrocytes
Agglutinogens
Antigens on erythrocyte surface that determine blood type
Agglutinins
Antibodies that may be present in the plasma
Agglutination
Causes antigens and antibodies to clump together
Neutrophils normal range
55-70%
Lymphocytes normal range is
20-40%
Monocytes normal range is
2-8%
Eosinophils normal range is
1-4%
Basophils normal range is
0.5-1%
Granulocytes are
Leukocytes that contains cytoplasmic granules and consist of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils
A granulocytes
Leukocytes that lack cytoplasmic granules and consist of monocytes and lymphocytes
Type A blood has what antigen and what antibody
Type A antigen and anti B antibodies
Type B blood has what antigen and what antibody
Type B antigen and anti A antibodies
Type AB bloods has what antigen and what antibodie
Type A and B antigen and NO antibodies
Type O blood has what antigens and what antibidies
NO antigens and has antiA and antiB antibodies
Red pulp is
Vascular tissue forms majority of spleen
White pulp
Lymphatic tissue and the dark purple dots within it are stained nuclei of lymphoid tissue
