Q

What is meant by enzymes “Denaturing”?

A

If temperatures exceed 37 degrees, the bonds that make the enzyme will break and the enzyme will lose its shape

Q

What does the Enzyme and Temperature graph look like?

A

-It looks like an upside-down “U” with rate of enzyme activity on the left and temperature at the bottom
-At lower temperatures there are fewer collisions, leading to less reactions
- At the optimum temperature there are more collisions without denaturing
- As temperature gets too high more enzymes denature and reaction rates start falling
