The Battle of Stockton was a clash between members of the BUF and anti-fascist demonstrators from small local Communist part and National Unemployed Workers Movement member. It was significant because the march was an early attempt to rally support in depressed areas but the anti-fascists protested and drove out the BUF. The Party’s embrace of Nazi style anti-semitism lead to increase of violent anti-fascist confrontations.
