What are the lines and what conditions do these usually indicate?
Lines are called Kerley B lines and are indicative of Interstitial Disease
What is the difference between the common underlying causes for Alveolar disease and Interstitial disease?
- Interstital has an underlying viral cause
- Alveolar has an underlying bacterial cause
What do you call the sign and what is it indicative of?
Air bronchogram sign. Indicative of an alveolar disease.
What does MDPLOTS stand for?

Name the anatomic silhouettes that correspond to the lingula and right lung?
Left heart border - Lingula
Right heart border - Right Middle Lobe
Ascending aorta - Right upper Lobe

What are some of the causes that can lead to the lung showing as white on xray?
Water (pulmonary edema), blood, pus (pneumonia), cells, absence of air (atelectasis, lobar collapse), proteins (secretions, mucous plugging)
