A

A

A broken ship that was abandoned by the Union. The Confederacy took it and repaired it to better than its original state and made it an ironclad. The confederacy named it the Virginia.

A

took place on March 8 in 1862 when the Virginia attacked Union ships in Chesapeake bay, on march 9 the Virginia and the Monitor met and fought, neither ships won

A

a system of selecting people for required military service.

What were the Military draft riots (especially in New York City)

A

-in July of 1863, rioters protested against the military drafts. Government and military buildings were attacked. African Americans were attacked because people were scared their jobs would be taken. 100 people were dead after four days.

A

in the battle of Shiloh there were 23,000 casualties and the Union won.

A

It was near a river called Bull Run. The Union retreated and the Confederates won. People came out with picnic blankets and food to watch the battle, little did they know it was way more gruesome than they thought.

He was promoted to lead the Union army by Lincoln. He didn’t follow Lincoln’s orders and got fired by Lincon.

Most battles were fought in the south destroying farms and homes and the south faced shortages of food and various household items.
