Andrew Jackson (specifically his role in the Indian Removal Act)
Supported the white settlers’ demand for Native American lands. He fought the Creek and Seminole in Georgia and Florida to give settlers more land. The Supreme Court ruled against him, but he did it anyway. John Marshal was the Judge who ruled against him
Where did Congress set aside land for Native Americans?
West of the Mississippi river. Oklahoma and the Great Plains

A supreme court case of the Cherokee vs Georgia. The Cherokee won the case but Andrew Jackson said no and the Cherokee ultimately lost their land anyway. John Marshall was the Chief Justice
Trail of Tears (what is another name for it as well)
The trail of tears is the removal of the Cherokee tribe from Georgia to west of the Mississippi. It is also called the Trail where they Cried.
Who were the “Black Seminoles?
Black seminoles were slaves that ran away from their owner and joined the Seminoles fought in Florida
The Seminole Tribe (role in Indian Removal)
fought back to keep their land. Lost but killed many american troops. Retreated to the everglades. In where today is Florida.
Which Native groups made of the “civilized tribes?”
Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole.

Martin van Buren’s economic policy was laissez faire. Laissez Faire means the government should have a limited role in economic policy

They were a Political party the log cabin was their symbol, their slogan was Tippecanoe and Tyler too
William Henry Harrison
was a war hero in 1812. He became president in 1841. He was nicknamed “man of the people”. He gained fame from the beating Tecumseh. Only served 32 days because he died of pneumonia. He got sick from giving an hour long speech in the cold without a hat or coat.
Bank of the United States (what was the issue about the bank? What did Jackson believe)
The issue with the bank was that it was too strict with loans. Middle class or poor people did not get favor from bank they favored rich
Panic of 1837
A financial panic over the value of the dollar because some state banks printed tons of money causing the government to stop accepting the money causing regular people to question the money’s value leading to a depression.
