fracture (v, n)
1 if a bone or other hard substance fractures, or if it is fractured, it breaks or cracks
The immense pressure causes the rock to fracture.

somebody can’t get it into their (thick) skull
1) the bones of a person’s or animal’s head
2) somebody can’t get it into their (thick) skull:
someone is unable to understand something very simple
He can’t seem to get it into his skull that I’m just not interested in him.
unconscious
unable to see, move, feel etc in the normal way because you are not conscious
She was found alive but unconscious.
knock/beat somebody unconscious
Levin was knocked unconscious by the impact.
black eye
if you have a black eye, you have a dark area around your eye because you have been hit
Jack looked like someone had given him a black eye.
dislocate
1) to move a bone out of its normal position in a joint, usually in an accident
I dislocated my shoulder playing football.
2) to spoil the way in which a plan, system, or service is arranged, so that it cannot work normally SYN disrupt
Communications were temporarily dislocated by the bad weather.
sprain
to damage a joint in your body by suddenly twisting it SYN twist
I fell down the steps and sprained my ankle.
fall off

e.g.
I sprained my wrist when fell off my bike.
twist your ankle/wrist/knee
to hurt your wrist etc by pulling or turning it too suddenly while you are moving
Harriet slipped on the stairs and twisted her ankle.
blister
a swelling on your skin containing clear liquid, caused, for example, by a burn or continuous rubbing
New shoes always give me blisters.
bruise (n, v)
n: a purple or brown mark on your skin that you get because you have fallen, been hit etc
minor cuts and bruises
v: if part of your body bruises, or if you bruise part of your body, it gets hit or hurt and a bruise appears
She fell off her bike and bruised her knee.
first aid
simple medical treatment that is given as soon as possible to someone who is injured or who suddenly becomes ill
Being given first aid at the scene of the accident probably saved his life
bathe
to wash or cover part of your body with a liquid, especially as a medical treatment
She brought a bowl of water and began to bathe the injured arm.
thoroughly
1 completely
She sat feeling thoroughly miserable.
thoroughly cooked meat
2 carefully, so that nothing is forgotten
The room had been thoroughly cleaned.

bandaid (american)
British English a piece of thin material that is stuck on to the skin to cover a small wound SYN bandaid American English
e,g.
Your finger is bleeding. Put on a bandaid (plaster).
dressing (cover a wound with a clean dressing)
a special piece of material used to cover and protect a wound
The nurse came to change his dressing.
