stroll
to walk somewhere in a slow relaxed way
e.g.
People were strolling along the beach.
wander (around/about)
to walk slowly around or to a place, often without any particular sense of purpose or direction
e.g.
I just spend the day wandering around the town.
stumble (over/on sth)
to hit your foot against something or put your foot down awkwardly while you are walking or running, so that you almost fall

e.g.
Vic stumbled over the step as he came in.
march (v)
if soldiers or other people march somewhere, they walk there quickly with firm regular steps
e.g.
The soldiers marched along the street.
charge
to deliberately run or walk somewhere quickly
e.g.
The boys charged noisily into the water.
The police charged across the square towards the protesters.
rush
to move very quickly, especially because you need to be somewhere very soon
SYN hurry
rush to do something: to do something very quickly and without delay
e.g.
A small girl rushed past her.
I rushed to pack my suitcase before she came back.
chase
to quickly follow someone or something in order to catch them
e.g.
The dogs saw him running and chased him.
flat out
as fast as possible
e.g.
Everyone’s working flat out to finish on time.
I ran flat out to get home before the others.
run off with sth
to steal something and go away
e.g.
The thief ran off with my handbag.
stiff
if someone or a part of their body is stiff, their muscles hurt and it is difficult for them to move
e.g.
Her legs were stiff from kneeling.
My fingers are stiff with cold.
I woke with a stiff neck.
devise
to plan or invent a new way of doing something
e.g.
She devised a method for quicker communications between offices.
I asked a personal trainer to devise a workout routine for me.
demanding
needing a lot of ability, effort, or skill
e.g.
Climbing is physically demanding.
vital
extremely important and necessary for something to succeed or exist
SYN crucial
e.g.
The work she does is absolutely vital.
These measures are vital to national security.
warm down
exercises that you do to relax your body after playing a sport or dancing
e.g.
A gentle walk can act as a warm-down after a race.
It’s vital that you finish your workout by warming down with fairly gentle activities.
