1.12 Feasibility Flashcards
Why will the development team carry out a feasibility study?
To check if a design proposal will be effective in meeting the needs of the target market
How will they carry out a feasibility test?
They will test the prototype, gather feedback from the target market and evaluate the need for any required changes. The design may be developed further as a result and new prototypes may be made
How can they get feedback from target market?
Conducting one to one interviews or focus groups
What are some examples of the questions asked?
- Performance of the product
- Ease and comfort of using it
- Ease of cleaning or maintaining it
- Features are suitable
- Cost
- Recommended improvements
What does market research collect?
Data about potential buyers and their preferences. The statistical data can then be analysed using our charts, graphs and histograms. The results are used to evaluate the design
What do feasibility studies consider?
The effect of the product agile on the cost of materials as this will affect the products retail cost
What is another consideration?
Where the product is to be sold, as standard sissies differ across the world and garments need to be sized appropriately
What are designers and product developers guided by?
The use of anthropometric data and a pattern grader will adjust pattern proportions to give a range of diggers sizes for the same product
What are the different standard sizes in different countries?
- UK: 10
- US: 8
- Japan: 9-11
- France, Spain & Portugal: 38
- Germany & Scandinavia: 36
- Italy: 42
- Australia & New Zealand: 10
