PIC
Who is clearance authority for VFR flight in controlled airspace?
PIC

above 3,000 AGL unless authorized by atc
Lowest IFR altitude allowed on airways?
No lower than the published minimum for the airway
Min IFR altitude off airways?
No lower than OROCA, OTOCA or an altitude that provides at least 1,000/2k ft within 4 nm of course to be flown
Min altitude over non-congested areas?
500 AGL
Min altitude over sparse area or open water?
no closer than 500 ft to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure
Min altitude over congested areas?
1,000’ above the highest obstacle withing a 2,000 foot radius

200 KIAS
Hazard avoidance rules general?
Do not operate in any forecast or actual severe condition.
Thunderstorm avoidance
PIC will not intentionally fly into a thunderstorm, do not fly in IMC near thunderstorms without operable weather radar.
How far must you avoid thunderstorms by?
10 NM below FL230 20 nM above..
How far must you avoid volcanic ash by?
50 NM
What man made obstacles are not on charts?
Man made obstacles less than 200’ AGL
What do you do if you cannot visually identify a turn point on LL?
Turn on time
What clearance does a LL MSA give you?
500’ above the highest obstruction within 5 NM of route centerline.
For the current leg being flown.
What clearance does a LL ERAA give you?
1,000/2,000 above the elevation of the highest obstruction to flight within 22 NM either side of entire route.
