10.2 Mitosis Flashcards
What happens in prophase?
The chromatin condenses into chromosomes, the nucleus breaks down, and the spindle fibers form.
What happens in metaphase?
The chromosomes line up and prepare for separation.
What happens in anaphase?
The sister chromatids are pulled to opposite ends of the cell.
What happens in telophase/cytokinesis?
The cell splits and reforms the nucleus in each new cell.
What are multipotent cells?
Stem cells in specific areas that make specific cells.
What are pluripotent cells?
Cells that were created from leftover embryos that can become any cell.
What are induced pluripotent cells?
Regular cells that scientists turned into embryonic cells.
What do transcription factors do?
They control the production of protein.
