10 Flashcards
What is the chlorophyll a?
The only chlorophyll directly involved in a light reaction.
Gives off 2 electrons
What does chlorophyll b do?
It’s a pigment, and along with other pigments, it feeds off to Chlorophyll A
Why are plants green?
The color of a plant is the color not being absorbed; most plants absorb all colors but green
What is the chemical equation of Photosynthesis?
6CO2 + 6H2O ➡️ chlorophyll and sunlight ➡️ C6H12O6 + 6O2
What does photosynthesis provide to cellular respiration?
Provides cellular respiration with sugar and oxygen.
What does cellular respiration provide to photosynthesis?
CO2 and water
What is the relation of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in simple terms?
They are directly coupled
What are the 3 steps of Photosynthesis?
- The light reaction
- Reduction
- Regeneration of RuBP
Where does the light reaction occur?
In The chloroplast, in a structure called the thylakoid
Where is the thylakoid located?
The chloroplast
Where does photosynthesis occur in the thylakoid?
The thylakoid membrane and the thylakoid space
What does the light reaction do?
Used light energy to create chemical energy
