Under normal circumstances, non-emergency staff vehicles are to remain available for use of the primary assigned driver. It is understood these vehicles may need to be used in the performance of department business. When this is necessary, the following shall occur.

- After hours use of non-emergency staff vehicles requires the approval of the on-duty DC
- The on-duty DC is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is returned to the assigned station in time for the commencement of the next working shift by the person normally assigned to operate the vehicle so as not disrupt previously scheduled appointments.
- PPE is not permitted to be worn or carried in the passenger compartment of any non-emergency staff vehicle. Where it is necessary to transport PPE in a non-emergecny staff vehicle, it may be carried in the trunk area. If space does not permit, alternate arrangements for transportation of the PPE must be made.
