What was the “Defence of the Realm” act in 1915?
It gave the German government emergency powers- to censor the press and control jobs.
What part did women play in the war?
By October 1915 women were being recruited to undertake men’s jobs so they could still be done whilst the men were at war. On March 28th 1917 the “Women’s army auxiliary corps” was formed which placed women in the heat of war.
Why was it important for countries to be able to use the sea?
This was important so that they could have contact with supply lines and reinforcements.
