Nov 1923: Streseman introduced temporary currency called rentenmark.
Based on property values rather than gold reserves

1924: reichsmark replaced rentenmark
Young plan
1929: Owen young came up with new payment plan
Reparations reduced three quarters from 6.6 billion to 1.85 billion
Length of time extended to 59 years
Seen as achievement for Streseman but criticised by right wing
Locarno treaties
Signed treaty with Britain, France, Italy and Belgium
Set up in 1925 to keep existing borders between Germany, Belgium and France
Streseman wanted to do this to improve relations with Britain and France
Kellogg briand pact
Germany signed with 64 other nations in 1928
Agreed to keep armies for self defence and to solve international disputes by peaceful means
As a result of stresemans foreign policies France withdrew from the Ruhr in 1925, allies agreed to Dawes and young plan. In 1927: allied troops withdrew from West Bank of Rhine 5 years before original schedule of 1993
League of Nations
Sept 1926: Germany given permanent seat on council but some Germans still saw the league as guardian of the TOV.
Dawes plan
Germany persuaded Britain And France to lower reparations. (1 billion marks for 1st year, increase to 2.5 billion over 4 years). 1924
1925: Ruhr area evacuated by allied troops
Reichsmark reorganised
USA gave loans to Germany
Plan only worked whilst USA was giving money to Germany
