What is a varnish
Applied with brush, clear finish, waterproof, hard, tough finish

Applied with brush, used mainly of softwoods, provides colour, as well as a degree of moisture resistance

Apply with brush, wide colour variety, can colour wood to make it look more expensive, no properties
What is colour wash
Available in many colours, colours wood while allowing visibility of the grain
What is wax
Apply with brush, increases surface hardness and toughness, can see grain
What is pressure treating
Forces preservatives into the fibres of the wood, protects from rot, suitable for decking and bridge construction
What is yacht varnish
Apply with brush, suitable for outdoor woods, all year round, increases weather resistance, toughness and hardness
What is danish oil
Apply with lint free cloth, enhances grain, builds up water resistant finish
What is teak oil
Apply with lint free cloth, used for naturally oily woods, used for outdoor products to improve weather resistance, shows grain
