Different Types Of Deisgn Flashcards
What is rapid prototyping
Fast way of making realistic 3D model products - can use stereolithography, which uses a vat of polymer resin, solidifying it layer by layer using a UV laser
what is FDM / fuel deposition modelling
3D printing, uses a thermoplastic£ filament to create a product layer by layer - creates models quickly and cheaply allowing for customer feedback
What is total design
Sub sections that must be addressed / achieved in order to achieve good design - environment, testing, safety, lifespan, materials, ergonomics, aesthetics, performance, cost, size, maintenance
What is critical analysis
Carried out by designers, analyses product, function, task, ergonomic, aesthetic, material, manufacture and environmental analysis
What is USD / user centred design
Concept that highlights that the end product should be focused around the user
What is anthropometric data
The use of a Series of scientific measurements of the human body in design - height, weight etc
What is inclusive design
The design of products that are accessible, usable by as many people as possible whiteout the need for specialised design - gender, size, age, background
