Deisgn For Manufacture And Project Management Flashcards
What is QA / Quality Assurance
Makes sure that products are created correctly the first time round - only sources materials with the ISO 9001 standard - sets rigid maintenance schedules - CAD, CAM AND FEA are used to help achieve this
What is TQM / Total quality management
Aims stem from QA, aims to reduce and remove waste and produce products correctly the first time around - all procurers implemented are communicated to the workforce
What is Scrum manufacture
Manufacture with a lot of goals set, and is based of short term goals and sprints - has daily scrum updates to show progress
What is six sigma
Based of DMAIC manufacture - define, measure, analyse, improve, control - set of techniques that minimises defects
What is lean manufacture
Attempts to eliminate all waste from product production, uses TIMWOOD to identify waste
What is TIMWOOD
T - transport - to reduce distance transported / I - inventory - to reduce on site inventory / M - movement - reduce employee/machine movement for efficiency / W - waiting - to split up the work evenly so that no time is wasted / O - over production - to make sure too many products are made / over processing - to make sure the correct equipment is used / D - defects - any defects to be removed
What is Lean six sigma
Combination of lean manufacture ( TIMWOOD) and six sigma
What is critical path analysis
Flow chart showing every task to complete an action, with times, also allows multi tasking
What is QC / quality control
Monitors and checks materials, machines and components throughout the creation process to ensure they’re in line with QA policies - visual checks, chemical analysis, Colour matching, regular QC checks to make sure equipment is working accurately
What is a go / no-go gauge
Checks dimensional accuracy of products on a production line, has 2 sizes, minimum and maximum
What is NDT / non destructive testing
Ultra sound testing - subjected to ultrasound waves that show infractions unable to be seen by eye
