Woman’s hour has diverted over time and now includes content of a conterversial manner. Typically, being broadcast at 10 am would mean it could only reach a specific audience, but now it can reach a diverse range of audiences through podcasts on the internet. Before the rise of DAB.a n early or late time slot could be limiting in terms of audience, but now any episode can e listened to at any point.

The nature of a psb and the content of the broadcast go against ideas of profit and power. BBC relies on funding from to liscensing so doesn’t feel pressure to generate profit which impacts the content. More risks can be taken

A female audience who welcomes a programme dedicated to issues relevant to women today. They can relate to these issues discussed and they are important to them
Negotiated reading of woman’s hour
Not all feel the radio show is appropriate but can relate to topics of discussion. These topics are seen a taboo, so some may feel it is unacceptable to discuss them
May be from a male audience who don’t relate to the topics discussed but want to understand the female experience
Oppositional reading of woman’s hour
From a male audience who feel alienated due to the feminine nature of the content.
May be from some people who find the topics discussed unsuitable for a psb as the topics could be deemed private such as menstrual cycle.
