- Temp s/e: headache, nausea, mood changes

- ED: continuous
When missing a pill, when would you need to use extra contraceptive measures for the next 7 days
- > 2 pills missed
- First wk + unprotected in pill free
What are the missed pill window for Qlaira + zoely + how long must extra precautions be made?
- Window: 12 hrs
- Precautions: 9 days

Illness/missed pills occurs in last 7 days
When taking enzyme inducing antibiotics, how long must extra precautions be taken?
Throughout treatment + 4 wks after

What are the effects of taking lamotrigine + CHC together?
Inc clearance = poor seizure control
What are the risks of taking contraception?
- MI + stroke
- VTE
- Breastcancer
- Cervical
What are the travel counselling when taking contraception?
- Inc risk DVT
- Immobility >5hrs
- Exercise during flight
- Wear graduated compression hosiery
When would you consider using POP?
- COC CI
- Older
- Smoker
- HPT
- Valvular HD
- Diabetes
- Migraine sufferers
- Breastfeeding
What are the missed pill rules for POP?
- > 3hrs late: take when remember, continue + use barrier for next 2 days
- Pill missed + intercourse w/in 2 days: ECH
What is the newest POP?
Drospirenone
- Window: 24hrs
- 28 tabs, 24 active
Depo injections
- BMI >35
- Delay fertility 1 yr
- Discontinuation = alt bleeding pattern
- Loss bone mineral density tf avoid if osteoporosis
Implant
- Rapidly reversible
- Protects 3 yrs
- Less effective 3rd yr if >35 BMI
