Intro
Since the start of history women have been treated difterently to men especially in the church. They were expected to stay silent when in church and they aren’t allowed to be priests.
The men can do whatever they want and have told women that it they are to
Speak then it would be seen as disgraceful.
First point for
My first point as to why women should be allowed to be priests is because the Bible says that men and women are equal, so they should have the same rights.
Galatians 3:28 states : there is no difference betmeen men and women: you are all one in union with christ Jesus .This means that they should be treated the same and given the exact same opportunities is each other. This argument was from the Bible, and in church, christians learn about the Bible and how to follow the teachings of Jesus christ. And it says in the Bible that men and women are in union and theres no difference. So if christians are really being faithful and following the Bible then men and women should be equal, and should both be allowed to be priests. If the Bible is telling christians that they are equed then in church, especially, they should have equal opportunities.
First point against
My resson against women being priests is that Jesus specifically chose men
instead ot women to be apostles. “Jesus chose 12 men to be apostles, so the church has no right to change this pattern” Jesus must have chosen only men for a specific reason. It he wanted both men and women to be priests then he would have chosen 6 men and 6 women to symbolise that they are equal. But he only chose men which shows that he wanted only men to be involved in the church and that men were superior than women. He strategically chose men as they were more educated then women.
2nd point for
My 2nd point for is “both men and women can be baptised . They are equal on entry into the church and so should also be equal after” If men and women can both seen as equal when they are baptised then they should stay as equal forer. Men Shouldn’t be allowed a higher position in the church if women are equal. It they are both really equal on entry then they should have the exact same opportunities, men shouldn’t get extra privilages just because they are
men.
2nd point against
My 2nd point against. women being priests is that during holy communion, the
priest represents Jesus. And Jesus wasn’t a woman so a woman can’t ve a priest. “When Holy communion is taking place the priest represents Jesus” who was a man and so a woman cannot be the representation of Jesus.
A woman cannot be a priest as that would be representing Jesus as a woman which is incorrect.
Conclusion
After consining all the above arguments, I think that women shoult be allowed to be priests in a church As in the Bible it says men and women are equal. If only men coud be priests then it would be going against what the Bible has told us.
