What is wholesale dealing?
Sale of medicinal product to a person who:
- Sells/supplies it to another
- Administers it to someone in course of their business
Under what conditions does a pharmacy not require a MHRA licence?
- Supplying to another pharmacy/ healthcare practitioner
- Is on an occasional basis
- Small quantity is supplied
- Supplied on a non-profit basis
- Supply is not for re-sale
Who can a pharmacy wholesale deal a POM to?
- Retail pharmacy
- Practitioners e.g. doctor, dentist
- Hospital
What do you have to do to supply a pharmacy wholesale POM with cautions?
- Quality control - GDP and named responsible person to ensure correct procurement, storage and distribution
- Control over who is supplied
- Promotes confidence in medicine supply chain

What are you not legally required to do?
- Pharmacy is not legally required to label stock
- For details to appear on requisition for POM supply - unless a CD
- To make an entry in the POM register - good practice

What are the legal POM reg. Requirements?
- Date of supply of POM
- Name of drug, quantity, form and strength
- Purpose of sale
- Name, address, trade, business/profession of purchaser
