List the 4 aims of NMS
- Improve adherence
- Reduce waste
- Enhance pharmacists role
- Promote self management
Briefly describe each of the contractor requirements for NMS.
- Meet all essential services and acceptable system of clinical governance.
- Have SOPs in place for NMS
- Notify local GP practices that they are providing the service
- Have a consultation room
- Inform NHS England and NHS improvement team if above are met.
What are the pharmacist requirements for NMS?
Complete a self assessment/declaration that they understand and consider the background, aims, how to run, consultation skills and necessary communication.
What is Stage 1 of the NMS process?
Day 0 - Patient Engagement
- Pt referred by prescriber
- Initial advice given
- Consent and follow up arranged
What is Stage 2 of the NMS process?
Day 7-14 - Intervention
- FtF/ telephone interview to see how patient is managing
- Adherent
- Non-adherent - give advice & support
- Arrange follow-up
What is Stage 3 of the NMS process?
After 14 days
- 2 outcome adherent/ non-adherent
- If non-adherent refer to GP for more advice & support
How long should any records be kept more?
2 years from date after completion of service
What must be provided to the NHSBSA?
Summary of numbers on quarterly basis
What is the payment to CP for each service?
£20-28
When is NMS considered complete?
Stage 2 - problem identified and referred to GP
Stage 3
- Tried to contact patient but failed to answer
- Meds discontinued by GP
- Adherent and no issues
- Problem identified and referred to GP
