Describe a supplementary prescriber (SP)
Can take responsibility for management of a patient who has been assessed and diagnosed by an independent prescriber.

Responsible for the initial clinical assessment, diagnosis, prescribing and follow-up

- fully trained, accredited and registered
- Prescribe within their competence
- Access to PMR
- Responsible for their actions
- Adhere to legal restrictions
What are the 3 types of nurse prescribers?
NSP - SP
NIP - no restrictions - competence
CPNP - DN/ health visitor - only from NPF

- Any Rx.
- No CD restrictions
Optometrists IP
- Only ocular conditions/tissue around the eye
- No unlicensed meds
- Only off label - good practice
Physiotherapist IP
- Rx licensed meds local/national guidelines
- Relating to human movement and function
- Certain CD
- No unlicensed

- Medicines affecting foot, ankle and associated structures
- Certain Rx
