What is the effect of aspirin?
Anti-platelet that reduces clot formation
What the side effects of aspirin?
- risk of gastric bleeding
- wheezing in some asthmatics
What are the contra-indications of aspirin?
- known allergy
- children under 16
- active GI bleeding
- haemophilia or clotting disorders
- severe hepatic failure with jaundice
What is the correct dosage of aspirin?
300 mg chewed or dissolved in water
What is the effect on entonox?
Inhaled analgesic gas
What are the side effects of entonox?
Minimal side effects
What are the contra-indications of entonox?
- chest injury
- suspected pnuemothorax
- decompression sickness diving <24hrs
- violently disturbed psychiatric patient
- abdominal pain where obstruction suspected
- intraoccular injection of gas in last 8 weeks
What is the dosage of entonox?
Self administered gas (3-5 mins effect)
What is the effects of GTN?
Dilation of coronary arteries, dilation os systemic veins resulting in <preload, reduced BP
What are the side effects of GTN?
- headaches
- dizziness
- hypotension
What are the contra- indications of GTN?
- hypotension’s
- hypovolaemia
- head trauma
- unconscious
- known severe aortic/mitral stenosis
- sildenafil/viagra in past 24hrs
What is the dosage of GTN?
400-800mgs (400mcg spray)
What is the effect of furosemide?
Potent diuretic with rapid onset and short duration
What are the side effects of furosemide?
- hypotensions
- GI disturbances
What are contra-indications of furosemide
- <GCS with liver cirrhosis
- cardiogenic shock
- severe renal failure with anuria
- children under 18
