Week 3 Impaired Motor Control Stability Flashcards
when we have instability, what do we have impairments in
static posture, dynamic posture, joint stability, WB issues, OKC and CKC things. and motor control issues
for motor control, we start with…
stability, need to be able to hold ourselves still and have control before we can move and walk
determining the best treatment requires 3 steps
- ID limitation
- determine impairments
- prioritize the problems in an effective POC
what kinds of things do we look at with the examination of motor control
how it affects function, impact on movement, is there instability above and below, what is the cause? what is the consequence? systems involved? what tests can I do and how can I measure it?
TF: we need to find out if the instability is a direct cause of the functional limitation
true
how can we determine interventions
we must first see if we can remediate or compensate, then then we address whats wrong (stiff, mobility, muscle length, strength…)
what are some interventions we can do
RT, WB, postural exercises, biofeedback or ESTIM, tapping or strapping, splinting, bracing, pressure garments, BW on treadmill.
why is it important to work on stability in a lot of different positions
