Don’t self treat warts
-less than 3 for salicylic acid products
-less than 4 for cryotherapy products

-large and/or multiple in 1 area

little improvement after 12 weeks self treatment

-self treat max 12 weeks

When to avoid salicylic acid
-less than 3
-salicylate allergy
-immunosuppressive medications
-pregnant/lactating
Counseling pearls for salicylic acid
-soak in warm water for 5 min before application
-keep away from eyes/healthy skin
-combine with cryotherapy or duct tape
-may apply petroleum jelly to healthy tissue around wart to protect healthy skin
salicylic acid dosing
-apply 1-2 per day(17% liquid/gel)
-every 48 hours(40% plaster/pad/strip/stick)
Cryotherapy dosing
can repeat after 2 weeks(max 3 treatments or for up to 12 weeks)
Cryotherapy counseling pearls
-soak in warm water for 5 min
-keep away from heat sources
-only use applicator once
Cryotherapy cautions
-one wart at a time
-apply to wart only
-do not use for moles or birth marks
-AVOID in pregnancy/lactation
duct tape dosing
-cut to lesion size(slightly larger okay)
-apply and leave on for 6 days
-remove on evening of 6th day
-soak in water and debride with pumice stone
-replace next morning with a new piece

Soft corn treatment
-salicylic acid in collodion vehicle 1-2x day for 3-6 days
Hard corn/calluses treatment
-salicylic acid in collodion vehicle(17%) 1-2x/day OR
-plaster/pad(40%) every 48 hours for 14 days
