W22-L1: Locomotion and Posture Flashcards
What is muscle fibrillation?
tiny contraction cause by activity of a single muscle cell - can be due to hypersensitivity, increased AChr expression
What is muscle fasciculation?
groups of muscle fibres contracting involuntarily, probably a motor unit synaptically activating due to spontaneous activation of a degenerating MN / axon
What do vestibulospinal tracts have a role in?
Maintaining posture
What do reticulospinal tracts have a role in?
controls muscles of the midline (posture control)
What do colliculospinal tracts have a role in?
Orientating towards stimulus
What do ventromedial white matter tracts have a role in compared to lateral white matter tracts
Posture rather than limb movement
