What is the structure of viruses?

capsid, genetic matierial (can be rna or dna) and an attachment protein

A
it joins the virus to its host

What is ‘Acellular’?
A
they don’t have their own cells
not living - can’t reproduce without another living cell

What do attachment proteins do?
A
bind to complimentary receptor proteins on host
they are specific to receptor proteins -> host

What do viruses do?
A
inject their genetic material
this hijacks the host cell - uses hosts organelles to reproduce more viruses
