Specific Immune Response: T-Lymphocytes Flashcards
How are T-lymphocytes activated in phagocytosis?
phagocyte presents pathogens antigen on its cell membrane (antigen presenting cell)
What are the three types of T-lymphocytes?
T-helper cells - release interleukins which activated T-killer cells and B-lymphocytes
T-killer cells - kill pathogens
T-regulator cells - stop T-killer cells from destroying other WBC’s e.g. antigen presenting cells
What does each type of T-cell have?
different protein receptor which is complimentary to a specific antigen
What is clonal selection?
only T-cells (or B-cells) that bind to complementary antigens
will divide and reproduce
What is clonal expansion?
T-cell or B-cell that is selected divides by mitosis
to make many clones of itself - will have complimentary protein to antigen
