Antibodies, Primary & Secondary Response Flashcards
What are antibodies?
proteins
specific primary structure
specific tertiary structure
antibodies are complimentary to antigens - form antibody-antigen complex
What happens during primary response?
it is the first immune response (when you get infected by pathogen u get sick)
slow - bc of phagocytosis - t cells - b cells - plasma cells
pathogen replicates - so u feel symptoms
after infection, you save memory cells
What happens during secondary response?
if same pathogen (with same antigen) infects you, immune response will be faster and stronger
memory b cell form plasma cells which fight the infection (humornal response)
memory t cells kill pathogens (cellular response)
