Vehicle Dimensions for Rigid Vehicles
A
- 12.5 metres long.
- 2.5 metres wide.
- 4.3 metres high.
- Does not include mirrors, anti-skid devices, lights, reflectors ect.

Vehicle Dimensions for Articulated/Combination Vehicles:
A
- 19 metres long, however:
- B-double —25 metres
- Road train —53.5 metres
- Car carrier —25 metres
- Articulated bus —18 metres
- Other bus —14.5 metres
- 2.5 metres wide.
- 4.3 metres high, except:
- 4.6 metres – vehicle build to carry livestock (horse, cattle, pigs or sheep).
- 4.6 metres – vehicle with at least 2 decks for carrying vehicles.
- 4.4 metres – double decker bus

Tyres for Light Vehicles
A
Must have 1.5 millimetres of tread in all groves on the tyre that runs continuously:
- Across the width that normally comes into contact with the road, and
- Around the whole circumference of the tyre.

Tyres for Heavy Vehicles
A
- Must have 1.5 millimetres of tread in all groves on the tyre that runs continuously:
- Across 75% or more of width that normally comes into contact with the road, and
- Around the whole circumference of the tyre.

Loads/Projections for Light/Heavy Vehicles:
A
- Not more than 1.2 metres in front of the headlights.
- Not more than 150 millimetres beyond the extreme outer portion either side of the vehicle.

Number plates must be permanently fixed to the vehicle so that (on level ground)
A
- Is in an upright position, substantially parallel to the vehicle’s axles.
- Not more than 1.3 metres above the ground.
- Is not obscured/defaced/illegible.
- Visible from any point front or rear:
o 20 metres away, and
o 45o from either side, and
o 45o from above. - If a motorcycle or trailer, one plate attached to the rear.
- Any other type of motor vehicle, there is one plate to the front and rear.
- Any cover is clear and not tinted and has no characteristics that would interfere with the operation of traffic offence detection devices (speed cameras).
- If the plates are of two different sizes, the larger plate is fixed to the rear.

Motorcycles Dimensions:
A
- Any load carried on a motorcycle must not project:
- more than 150mm beyond the front wheel
- more than 300mm beyond the rear wheel
- beyond the extreme outer portion of the motorcycle on either side.
- Any load carried on a motorcycle and sidecar combination must not project:
- more than 600mm beyond the front wheel
- more than 900mm beyond the rear wheel
- beyond the extreme outer portion of the combination on either side
