Learner Motorcycle (R L) - Conditions:

Answer 1

• Must only carry the rider (no passengers).
• Must display an L plate at the rear of the motor bike.
• Must not tow any vehicle or trailer.
• 90 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Only ride LAMS approved motor bike.
• Engine capacity not more than 660ml.
• Power-to-weight ratio of 150 kw per tonne or less.
• Power of 25 kw or less for electric motor bike.
• Must appear on the Approved Motorcycles for Novice Riders list.
• Motor bike must not be modified in any way from the manufacturer’s specifications (otherwise not LAMS approved)
• Cannot lane filter.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.

Question 2

Provisional P1 Motorcycle (R P1) - Conditions:

Answer 2

• Must only carry the rider (no passengers).
• Must display a P plate at the rear of the motor bike.
• Must not tow any vehicle or trailer.
• 90 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Only ride LAMS approved motor bike (as above).
• Cannot lane filter.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.

Question 3

Provisional P2 Motorcycle (R P2) - Conditions:

• May carry a pillion passenger
• Must display a P plate at the rear of the motor bike.
• May tow.
• 100 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Only ride LAMS approved motor bike (as above).
• Cannot lane filter.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.

Question 4

Learner Car (C L) - Conditions:

Answer 4

• Must be supervised by a full Australian Driver Licence holder.
• Must display an L plate at the front and rear of the motor vehicle.
• Must not tow any vehicle or trailer.
• 90 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.

Question 5

Provisional P2 Car (C P2) - Conditions:

Answer 5

• Must display a P plate at the front and rear of the motor vehicle.
• Can tow a trailer but must display a P plate on it.
• 100 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.
• Must not drive ‘high performance vehicles’:
• Power-to-weight ratio greater than 130 kw per tonne.
• Listed in the Novice Driver – High Performance Vehicle Restrictions as a high-performance vehicle.

Question 5

Provisional P1 Car (C P1) - Conditions:

Answer 5

• Must display a P plate at the front and rear of the motor vehicle.
• Only tow a trailer up to 250 kg unladen mass, display a P plate on the trailer as well.
• 90 km/h maximum speed
• 0.000 BAC.
• Cannot use mobile phone functions.
• Passenger restrictions if driver under 25 years old:
• Must not drive between 11pm – 5am with more than one passenger under the age of 21.
• If the holder of an exemption, must produce it to a police officer.
• Must not drive ‘high performance vehicles’:
• Power-to-weight ratio greater than 130 kw per tonne.
• Listed in the Novice Driver – High Performance Vehicle Restrictions as a high-performance vehicle.
