Learner Motorcycle (R L) - Conditions:
A
- Must only carry the rider (no passengers).
- Must display an L plate at the rear of the motor bike.
- Must not tow any vehicle or trailer.
- 90 km/h maximum speed
- 0.000 BAC.
- Only ride LAMS approved motor bike.
- Engine capacity not more than 660ml.
- Power-to-weight ratio of 150 kw per tonne or less.
- Power of 25 kw or less for electric motor bike.
- Must appear on the Approved Motorcycles for Novice Riders list.
- Motor bike must not be modified in any way from the manufacturer’s specifications (otherwise not LAMS approved)
- Cannot lane filter.
- Cannot use mobile phone functions.

- Power-to-weight ratio greater than 130 kw per tonne.
- Listed in the Novice Driver – High Performance Vehicle Restrictions as a high-performance vehicle.

- Passenger restrictions if driver under 25 years old:
- Must not drive between 11pm – 5am with more than one passenger under the age of 21.
- If the holder of an exemption, must produce it to a police officer.
- Must not drive ‘high performance vehicles’:
- Power-to-weight ratio greater than 130 kw per tonne.
- Listed in the Novice Driver – High Performance Vehicle Restrictions as a high-performance vehicle.
