Police may issue an immediate licence suspension notice when:

Road Transport Act 2013 – Section 239
Vehicle Sanctions may be imposed if the police officer reasonably believes that a motor vehicle:
- Is or has (in the last 10 days) been used on a road to commit a sanction able offence (if both driver and owner).
- Is or has (in the last 10 days) been used on a road during a number plate confiscation period offence (can be either a driver or the owner).
List Sanctionable Offences:
- High range speed offence - Over 45 km/h
- Refuse blood sample/breath analysis (if convicted of alcohol-related major offence in last 5 years).
- Mid or high range PCA (if convicted of alcohol-related major offence in last 5 years).
- Mid or high range PCA and prescribed illicit drug (oral fluid) combined offence (if convicted of alcohol-related major offence in last 5 years).
- Street race/speed record or trial on a road.
- Aggravated burnout.
- Police pursuit.
Licence Exemptions are found where?
Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2017
List who is exempt from holding a NSW driver licence:
- Visiting driver
- Driver of a light rail vehicle.
- Being submitted to a driving test by a police officer or authorised person.
- Driver of a motor vehicle weighing not more than 250 kg when unladen that is constructed or used solely for cutting grass or for purposes incidental to cutting grass.
- Any power-assisted pedal cycle (not incl one that has an internal combustion engine) that does not exceed 200 watts.
- conveyance of a person with a disability - not capable of travelling more than 10 km/h
- Driving a golf or green keeping vehicle
What is the minimum distance between towing vehicles:
- 4 metres, except a motorcycle.
A driver turning at an intersection must give way to:
- Any vehicle already in the intersection.
- Any pedestrian on or near the intersection on the road the driver is entering.
- Any vehicle going straight ahead or turning left (for a right turn).
Driver must not use high beam when:
- Vehicle is less than 200 metres in front (direction of travel).
- Vehicle is less than 200 metres in front (oncoming).
When is it unlawful to perform a U-turn:
- When a driver does not have a clear view of approaching traffic.
- The driver cannot safely perform the U-turn without unreasonably obstructing the flow of traffic.
- If the driver does not give way to all vehicles and pedestrians.
- At a break at a dividing strip on a road where there is a clearly displayed “No U-turn” sign.
- On a length of road which a “No U-turn” sign applies
- At a set of traffic control lights where there is no “U-turn permitted” sign
- At an intersection without traffic lights where there is a clearly displayed and erect “No U-turn” sign.
- Where there is a no right turn sign at an intersection without traffic lights.
- Where there is a “no right turn” sign
- On a section of road where there is a single continuous dividing line, a single continuous dividing line to the left of a broken dividing line or two parallel continuous dividing lines.

- Street Racing between vehicles

- First offence 3 months
- Second offence forfeit to the crown - Exceed Speed over 45km/h (must be registered owner)
- Police Pursuit (must be registered owner)
- Burnout (must be registered owner)
The holder of a learner / P1 / P2 licence must not ride a motor bike or motor trike on a road or road related area unless:
- an authorised L / P1 / P2 plate is displayed in a conspicuous position on the rear of the motor bike or trike so as to be visible from behind the vehicle, and
- Not to obscure the letter L / P in any way.
- The motor cycle is listed in the “Approved Motor Cycles for Novice Riders” published by the Authority
- If the engine capacity is greater than 660 ml or a power to weight ratio greater than 150 kilowatts per tonne.
- (LEARNER/ P1) Must not ride a motor bike or motor trike on a road or road related area for the carriage of any other person except for the rider.
The holder of a learner licence must not drive a motor vehicle on a road or road related area, if;
- The vehicle is towing any other vehicle, (whether or not a trailer), or 2. Is being towed by any other vehicle.
A provisional P1 licence (other than a class R licence) is subject to the condition that,
if the holder is less than 25 years of age, he or she must not drive a vehicle
1. at any time between 11pm on one day and 5am on the following day
2. With more than one passenger in or on the vehicle who is less than 21 years of age.
3. Does not apply to the driver of an emergency vehicle while driving the vehicle in the course of his or her duty.
The driver of any vehicle may drive for up to 100 meters in a special purpose lane if it is necessary to:
Enter or leave the road, or
Travel from part of the road of one kind to a part of the road of another kind, or
Overtake a vehicle turning right or making a U turn, or
Enter a line of traffic or
marked lane from the side of the road.
