A
- Cells that are very closely joined together forming a very smooth surface and vary in shape
- Covering/ lining of organs serving as a protective barrier
- Kidneys, heart or any inner organ
2
Q
Muscular tissue: Skeletal muscle
A
- Also called striated muscle, because of striations
- Carries our voluntary muscle contractions enabling humans to perform daily activities
- Bicep, tricep, quadricep
3
Q
Muscular tissue: Smooth type
A
- Smooth/non striated
- Carry out involuntary muscle contractions
- Walls of stomach and intestines
4
Q
Muscular tissue: Cardiac muscle
A
- Tubular structure with striations
- Involuntary movement of heart to pump blood
- The heart
5
Q
Nervous tissue
A
- Neurons and nerve cells intertwined
- Transmit messages across the body
- Brain tissue, spinal cord tissue and nevrves
6
Q
Connective tissue
A
- Cells spread out separated by non cellular material called matrix
- Provides support for body and hold body parts together
- Bone, cartilage, tendons
7
Q
Structure of red blood cells
A
- Most abundant cells in the blood (40-45%)
- Structure is a biconcave shape
- Contains Hämoglobin
- Do not contain a nucleus
