From Switzerland
Color is solid brown with stripes of white running from up downward on each side of the face; ears, legs, on
each side of the tailhead and at the wattle area are also light colored
Polled, but few are horned
Toggenburg
Swiss breed (Saanen Valley)
Largest breed in Switzerland
Color is white or creamy white
Hairs are short except at the back, flanks and lower thighs
It has beard (like Toggenburg) and may not have horns
Saanen
Large breed of goat found in Nubia, upper Egypt, Abyssinia and South Africa
Teeth are naturally exposed because the lower jaw protrudes farther than the upper jaw
Nubian
Crossbreed between common English goat and Nubian animal
Anglo-Nubian
Popular breed in India and Pakistan
Used mainly for the production of chevon but can be kept for milking purposes
Colors are brown, black and cream
Jamnapuri
Exhibits considerable variation in color, some are white or black while many of them are a mixture of white and black or other colors (most common are black, brown, and mixed)
Small in size
Used mainly to praduce chevan from which food preparation called caldereta is made
