what is IVU
Indication
Intravenous urography aka IVP (intravenous pyelogram)
- Series of timed images that examine the urinary system
- first image after bolus injection= Nephrogram phase
- last image= Post Void KUB
*indication: Flank pain
what is Cystography
Indication
*Exam that study the lower urinary system with retrograde filling.
(urethra —>bladder –> Ureters)
*indication: vesicoureteral reflux (VUR)
what is VCUG
Indication
Voiding Cystourethrography
- used in combo with cystography to examin the uretrha while voiding
- Indication: Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR)
What is a retrograde pyelography
Exam in which a urologist inserts a catheter in the orifice of an ureter so that contrast can be pushed up into the kidney (retrograde) .
*done during a cystoscopy
Indication: hydronephrosis

What is PTC
Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiogram
* Exam in which a chiba needle is punctured through the abdominal wall and inserted into the biliary tree to determine medical jaundice from surgical jaundice
What is ERCP
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatogram
* Exam done by a GI doctor in which an edoscope ise inserted in the mouth and down to the duodenum. A catheter is pushed into the CBD or pancreatic duct to to examine the biliary tree or pancreas. Retrograde contrast is injected.
What is Operative cholangiogram
Exam that is done during surgery (cholecystoectomy)
in which a needle is inserted into the CBD or cystic duct to examine CBD and to detect stones with use of contrast.
What is T-Tube cholangiogram
Exam done post surgery (cholestyectomy) to examine the patency of the CBD
