Why are megacities increasing ?
Increased urbanisation means more people live in cities causing more cities to exceed the 10 million mark classifying them as a megacity.
How do primary cities influence the economy?
Investment-businesses will locate in or near a primary city
Migration-migrants will travel to cities in search for better paid jobs
Transport- ports and airports are often located near megacities . This encourages further investment
How do primary cities influence politics ?
Governments are usually located in megacities meaning decisions about development often favour these cities

Poor education
Urban pull factors
High paid jobs
Better education and healthcare
Less crime
Why are cities growing?
Urban pull encourages more people to locate there
Cities will have a developed infrastructure allowing imports , exports and people to travel their quicker
Some are growing due to foreign investment
Why are developed cities in decline ?
Deindustrialisation- people move out of city to find work elsewhere
Suburbanisation - people move out of the centre to the suburbs for a better quality of life
What is regeneration?
Many areas have been in decline due to suburbanisation . These areas are given more funding to change appearance to attract more investors and once again encourage urbanisation

Accessibility-city centres are very accessible due to transport links
Availability-demand of land in the city is high however the edges of the city are much easier to build upon
Planning- city planners control the building work in the city and attempt to maintain the green belt as best as possible
Cost- extremely expensive to build in city . Prices are cheaper in suburbs
